(Click here) What is .png?  PNG files are a better file than JPEG in many circumstances because they have transparency.  This means that you can place the file on top of another, and the bottom file can show through.  With JPEG, if there is a "whitened" background area, that whitened area is transposed onto the new file.  PNG files, with transparency properties, makes merging two or more files together easy.
