Description
The T-shirt quilt shown is an example of what you will receive. HOW THIS WORKS: After the auction ends you send me 16 freshly laundered T-shirts. When they arrive I will send you an email and we will work out the details. For example - this quilt is a fastpitch softball T-shirt quilt. The sashing (the part in between the t-shirt with ball & mitts on it) coordinates with the T-shirt theme. If your special person the you are having this made for likes the color blue - we will find a fabric that you like and incorporate it into the quilt. I take the T-shirts and rotary cut the edges so the fabric is perfectly square. the the T-shirt squares are professionally machine serged to a piece of muslin the same size. This prevents stretching and keeps the fabric in place and your quilt square. You can decide how you would like the Quilt assembled. I like to create them with the sashing for 2 reasons 1) it makes a more "stable" quilt (no seam stretching, no distortion from the T-shirt fabric) and 2) The quilt looks more finished - not just thrown together. I can then machine sew around the squares or on the T-shirts if you wish, Creating a more tight knit quality quilt that will last a lot longer than a tied quilt. You can then wash the quilt many times and not worry about bunching or distortion from the T-shirt fabric the machine sewing holds the batting in place. Sizes: the size of the quilt shown is 56" X 72". Perfect for a twin or full size bed. The t-shirt Squares are 12" with the fronts and backs of 12 T-shirts and the top is 3 pieces made from a Jersey dividing up the last name, number and team name. What you need to send: Enough t-shirts to make 16 blocks. they can be 16 fronts, or a combination of 16 fronts and backs. You pick! I like to ask for an additional shirt just in case there is one that does not work with the theme for one reason or another. I Will send the additional shirt back with the quilt when it is finished, or I may incorporate it into the back of the quilt. The second quilt shown is an additional $50 and it includes 4 photos and extra t-shirts. BONUS: I Will include a basic shape gift tag on the quilt back - you can personalize it to your loved one with a permanent pen so they will Have a quilt that will be cherished forever. NOTICE : THE MONTH OF DECEMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE 3-5 WEEKS TURN OVER TIME. IF YOU ARE PURCHASING A QUILT AND EXPECTING IT TO BE FINISHED AS A CHRISTMAS GIFT YOU WOULD NED TO PURCHASE THE QUILT BEFORE THANKSGIVING. OTHERWISE IT WILL BE FINISHED IN JANUARY AND RETURNED AFTER CHRISTMAS UNLESS OTHER ARANGEMENTS WERE MADE BEFORE THE PURCHASE. YOUR quilt will be done within 3-5 weeks. I use different kinds of batting depending on the quilt. It may have polyster, or it may have cotton. QUALITY NOTE: Please realize that some of our favorite T-shirts are stretched out to a certain degree, sometimes have small holes, may be wore in spots etc. What you send me is what you get in the quilt - I will do my best to blend the shirts into a heirloom quality quilt that will last a lifetime.
