The piece appears to be a vessel that represents a Chinese or Buddhist Temple bell. At the time it was created Sullivan states "My focus is on the interpretation and translation of ritual Chinese Bronzes and oriental ceramics into wood forms. My experimentation concerns the primitive feel and textural qualities possible with this type of work."It is a beautiful, well crafted piece that has multiple pieces of turned walnut meticulously piece together to create the design. The diameter of the base is about 8 1/2 inches and the top diameter is 6 inches. It stands on 3 legs that measure just over 3/4 of an inch and has a total height of 9 1/2 inches. The piece is in excellent condition. There are two very slight scuffs that are visible in the first picture.
