Description smallsmoke store Up for Auction: Vintage glass making stock from The Demuth Glass Works. One, 1" diameter x 26" long, weighing 2.2 lbs - in - light teal in color. These rods are over a hundred years old and are mint/new. They were used to create chandeliers to compete with Tiffany Glass and Decorating Co.Adolph Demuth, (not to be confused with Charles Demuth the watercolorist of the same era)  emigrated from Germany in 1856 and started Demuth Glass works in 1895. His company, (using the favril glass making secret's of Martin Bach Sr. formerly employed by Tiffany) competed heavy with Tiffany Glass and Decorating Co.. There is a significant amount information about how these glass secrets were created by Martin Bach Sr.while he worked at Tiffany and then left to help Demuth.  In essence, all the vital favril glass making secrets employed by The Demuth Glass Works were created by Martin bach Sr. while at Tiffany first.
